Dengue, COVID, Influenza spreading in Sri Lanka; Seek immediate medical attention if fever persists

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's health sector warns that an influenza virus is spreading across the country.

Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. G. Wijesuriya said if fever persists, one should immediately seek medical attention. 

The influenza virus, COVID-19, and Dengue are currently spreading across Sri Lanka and the common symptom among all is fever.

According to the health officials, the number of daily reported COVID-19 and dengue cases are on the rise.

The Health Ministry said that five COVID-19 patients were reported in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (4).

Health officials warned that dengue is reaching a High Risk level, and 18 dengue related deaths have been recorded so far in 2023. 

At the same time, 700 dengue cases were reported within three days.
