Fraser Passport : Immigration says VISA conditions violated

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Immigration and Emigration said that the passport of British National Kayleigh Fraser was seized because she had violated her visa conditions.

The Immigration and Emigration Department on Tuesday (2) seized the passport of a young British national, accusing her of sharing information about the peoples protests via social media.

Taking to Social Media, Kayleigh Fraser claims that she had received a phone call from a very "anxious person" telling her that she needed to leave the country immediately. Her social media post added: "The government officials and intelligence agencies are enquiring into you."

She says: "I asked what would happen if I dont leave. The reply was 'BIG PROBLEMS'.

A British High Commission spokesperson, responding to News1st, said they are aware of press reports of an incident involving a British National.

The High Commission Spokesperson said they have not received any request for a consular assistance and added that they are in contact with relevant authorities to ascertain more details.

Kayleigh Fraser has been informed to visit to the Immigration and Emigration Department within 07 days for an investigation.

The Immigration Department had stated that the next course of action will be decided following the investigation.
