COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Cabinet of Minister decided that ONLY essential services will operate from midnight today (27) to the 10th of July.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will ONLY issue Diesel and Petrol for essential services with effect from midnight on Monday (27).
These services include Ports, Airports, Health, Food Distribution, Agriculture, said Minister Bandula Gunawardena.
"All other sectors must prepare from work from home program," said the Minister urging that the public must support to limit the consumption of fuel.
The Minister said all only essential services will be allowed to function until the 10th of July, and all other operations will be temporarily suspended.
The Minister said short distance travel will be permitted via the Sri Lanka Transport Board, however, long distance travel will be interrupted.
All schools in the Colombo region, schools in the suburbs of the Western Province and in major cities in other provinces will be closed until July 10th.
The Minister further stated that schools other areas will be operated at the discretion of school principals and education officials.
Due to the prevailing fuel crisis, the Cabinet today decided to release fuel for essential services only from midnight today (27).
