COLOMBO (News 1st); The demand for kerosene oil has increase due to the prevailing gas crisis in Sri Lanka, however, a kerosene oil shortage has been reported in the country as well.

The Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery fulfills the complete demand of Kerosene Oil in the country, however, the supply of Kerosene Oil was hampered when the Refinery was shut down on the 15th of November till the 07th of December.

Kerosene Oil is used by a large number of people in Sri Lanka.

Consumers have stated that they have been standing under the scorching sun to purchase kerosene oil, and asked whether the Government is attempting to keep them in hunger as there is also a sugar and a milk powder shortage.

" There are no words to describe the conduct of this Government. It has come to the point where we have to stand in line to purchase Kerosene Oil. If this Government cannot govern the country, they have to leave. These rulers do not understand our plight," one customer said.

Another customer, speaking to News 1st stated that he had been standing in line since morning, unfortunately when it was his turn the vendors said that they have run out of kerosene Oil.

"How are we to prepare our meals now? If you cannot govern this country properly, please hand it over to someone who can and leave," they said.
