Suspect Arrested with Cocaine at BIA

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An Indian national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake with 1.6 kilograms of cocaine in her possession.

She was arrested this morning by the BIA Police Narcotics Bureau.

The seized cocaine is valued at Rs. 65.7 million.

The suspect is a 29-year-old chef from Mizoram, India. 

Initial investigations revealed that she had previously visited Sri Lanka on three occasions.

Following her arrest, based on information she provided, a Sri Lankan man who was set to receive the drug consignment was also arrested by Police Narcotics Bureau officers in Colpetty.

The suspect is a 50-year-old businessman from Malabe.
