COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Census and Statistics officially handed over the "Census of Population and Housing 2024" report to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake this morning (07) at the Presidential Secretariat.
This preliminary report is based on data collected across the island between October and December 2024.
The report provides comprehensive details on Sri Lanka’s population, its growth, and the distribution of the population across various districts.
The information gathered through the census is crucial for the government and other institutions in formulating policies and development plans essential for the country's progress.
Notably, for the first time in Sri Lanka's census history, data collection was conducted using tablet computers and user-friendly mobile devices, marking a significant technological advancement.
