COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sialkot District Bar Association has refused to represent the suspects in Priyantha Kumara’s mob lynching case.
According to the Pakistan Daily, the decision was made in the meeting held by the association on Wednesday (08). The relevant association also expressed its grief over the incident as well.
Moreover, the eight suspects in the case were brought before a Gujranwala anti-terrorism court on Wednesday (09).
Thereafter, the court remanded them in Police custody for 13 days. As per court’s order, the suspects will have to appear in court again on 21st December.
The suspects were arrested with the assistance of CCTV footage and mobile call surveillance data. So far, 345 Rajco Industries’ employees have been detained and taken to an undisclosed location for questioning.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Bar Association of Pakistan called on the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pakistan and expressed his condolences.
Furthermore, the delegation head, Senator Syed Ali Zafar stated that the bar association is committed to following up the legal proceedings of the case till justice is ensured that the perpetrators are punished.
