Minor Flood warning for areas around Maha Oya

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Irrigation Department has warned that a Minor Flood may be experienced in the low-lying areas in the Maha Oya River Basin.

This warning is especially for the Marandagolla, Nalla, Diwuldeniya and Welihinda villages in the Giriulla Divisional area.

There is a threat of the Kurunegala - Negombo road being inundated close to the Giriulla Town, warned the Irrigation Department.

In addition, there is a possibility of occurring a Minor Flood situation in lower areas of the Maha Oya River Basin situated in Alawwa, Mirigama, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negombo, Katana and Dankotuwa DS divisions.
