COLOMBO (News 1st); Three suspects, who allegedly accompanied Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, to a Colombo nightclub and were involved in an assault, have surrendered to the Colombo Central Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CID), according to police sources.
On Tuesday (25), Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, provided a statement to the Kompanna Veediya Police regarding an assault involving a bouncer at a Colombo nightclub. The statement was given following a police notification.
According to News 1st correspondent, Rajapaksa spent nearly two hours at the police station.
The incident in question occurred at a nightclub on Park Street, Union Place, where Rajapaksa and his wife, along with several others, were present.
The altercation reportedly began Yoshitha Rajapaksa and his wife refused to wear identification wristbands required for entry.
This led to a confrontation between the group accompanying the Rajapaksa couple, and the nightclub's security personnel, resulting in the assault of a bouncer. The police have since reported the matter to the Fort Magistrate's Court.
