Taxes on Arrack, Beer & other liquor products increased with effect from Saturday (13)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Excise Department has increased the taxes on multiple liquor and related products with effect from Saturday (13).

? The tax on local Special Arrack was increased by Rs. 380.

(Previous Tax : Rs. 3,800 & New Tax : Rs. 4,180)

? The Tax on Arrack manufactured with palmyra, coconut increased by Rs. 410.

(Previous Tax : Rs. 4,050 & New Tax: Rs. 4,460)

? Tax on locally manufactured foreign Whiskey, Brandy, Rum and Gin increased by Rs. 420

(Previous Tax: Rs. 4,150 & New Tax: Rs. 4,570)

? Tax on locally popular beer with less than 5% alcohol concentration increased by Rs. 100

(Previous Tax: Rs. 3,200 & New Tax: Rs. 3,300)

? The Tax on beer with over 5% alcohol concentration increased by Rs. 250.

(Previous Tax: Rs. 3,200 & New Tax: Rs. 3,450)

Kapila Kumarasinghe, the spokesperson for the Excise Department told News 1st that the manufacturers must consider the tax hike for the respective liquor beverages and informed the department of their retail and wholesale prices.
