COLOMBO (News 1st); The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Benjamin List and David W.C. MacMillan for their development of a new tool to build molecules, which will assist in advancing pharmaceutical research and lessened the impact of chemistry on the environment.
The development has been identified as an essential part in many leading industries and is vital for research.
Accordingly, MacMillan and List were awarded the Nobel Prize for the "Development of asymmetric organocatalysis ".
Previously, the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine was awarded to David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian for work that has led to the development of nonopioid painkillers, while the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Syukuro Manabe of Princeton University, Klaus Hasselmann of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg, Germany, and Giorgio Parisi of the Sapienza University of Rome for their contributions to climate science.
The Nobel Prizes for the categories of Literature, Peace and Economic Science are due to be announced.
