COLOMBO (News 1st); Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif rejected Indian allegations linking Pakistan to the recent Kashmir attack, describing it as a "homegrown resistance" in occupied territory.

Asif emphasized that Pakistan has no connection to the attack, which he characterized as a result of long-standing local resistance against Indian occupation, dating back to United Nations resolutions from 1948.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Asif dismissed claims connecting Pakistan’s army chief to the attack as baseless and reiterated Kashmir’s status as Pakistan’s "jugular vein."

He accused India of possible "false flag" operations and highlighted the nuclear risks associated with the ongoing conflict, urging global intervention.

The Defence Minister stressed on the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue according to UN resolutions to address the root causes of terrorism and unrest in the region. He also reminded the international community of the historical significance of Kashmir to Pakistan, as articulated by the nation's founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Asif called for the world community to pay attention to the dangerous dispute, warning that the standoff between the nuclear-armed neighbors could escalate into a nuclear confrontation.

He criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referencing Modi's alleged involvement in the 2002 Gujarat riots, which led to his temporary ban from entering the United States.
