President calls for report on restrictions required after 21st Sept

COLOMBO (News 1st); Essential services, including pharmacies, agriculture, apparel & exports sector, Economic Centers, etc will continue to function as usual despite the Quarantine Curfew being extended to the 21st of September, said General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army in a statement released this afternoon (10).

The nation-wide quarantine curfew, expected to end on Monday (13) has been extended till 4.00 am on 21 September in order to curb further transmission of the pandemic.

The combined vaccination projects of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Health sector for those who have not received the vaccine, including those above 20 years of age will continue, he further added.

The Army Commander said the President had called for a report on the restrictions that need to be imposed, if the quarantine curfew is to be lifted on the 21st of September 2021.

He said all economic centers will be permitted to remain open continuously.
