COLOMBO (News 1st): The All Ceylon Ports General Employees Union has directed a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa requesting that the decision to transfer 13 acres of port land to a Chinese company be rescinded immediately. In the letter, the Ports Employees Union points out that although every Government, past and present, has delegated National resources to local and foreign companies under the development label, it has not brought any economic benefit to the country or the port. They point out that although the previous Government promised to take back the National resources that were given or sold, it is unfortunate that previous Governments, as well as the current Governments, continues to sell the remaining resources of the country to foreign entities. Therefore, the Ports Trade Union has requested the President to immediately rescind the decision taken to sell or lease the remaining resources.
