COLOMBO (News1st): Protests continued across the country against the General Sir John Kotelawala National Defence University Bill.
''Our request regarding the KDU Bill is simple. We are only against the move to hand over our education to the military,'' Dr Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, of the Sabaragamuwa University said.
He pointed out that the country is uniting for this cause.
A protest was also organized by the United Front in Trincomalee today demanding authorities to withdraw the Kotelawala Defence University Bill.
The protestors reached the Trincomalee Town from the Marathadiya Junction in Trincomalee.
Wasantha Samarasinghe, the President of the Inter-Company Employees Union, said the bill would be defeated on the streets, even if it is passed in Parliament.
''The KDU Bill which will mark the death of free education in Sri Lanka has been presented in Parliament,'' Samarasinghe noted.
