NICs to be sent by post as Dept. of Registration Persons closes offices for public

Colombo (News 1st); The Department of Registration of Persons announced that its head office and provincial offices will not be open to the general public, considering the surge in COVID-19 cases in Sr Lanka.

However, applications for the National Identity Card will be accepted at all regional offices of the Department of Registration of Persons which are located in all Divisional Secretariats in the country. All those who have made an appointment to obtain the NIC during the period the offices will remain closed, will have their NIC posted to their residential addresses on or before the due date, said the Department of Registration of Persons. "The above option also applies to all those who have already applied for the NIC," said the Department of Registration of Persons.
