COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Health Ministry decided to reserve three ICUs at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Hospital to provide treatment for critical COVID-19 patients.
The Health Ministry said the Intensive Care Units of the KDU contained 21 ICU beds and 12 High Dependency Beds. During a visit to the KDU Hospital on Thursday (29), Sri Lanka's Health Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi instructed to immediately assign 30 doctors, 80 nurses, and 25 junior staffers to the ICU Units. The Health Ministry said a decision was also made to expand the treatment services at Hospitals and Treatment Centers across the island and to also improve the number of hospital beds.
