Colombo (News 1st); The Sri Lankan government has learnt its lessons from the controversies surrounding sugar and coconut oil imports, said Minister of Lands S. M. Chandrasena on Sunday (28).
Errant traders are responsible for the Sugar Scam and Carcinogenic Coconut Oil, said the Minister. "The government was not involved in the controversial sugar imports and the imports of carcinogenic coconut oil," he said adding the benefit of the sugar tax reduction did not reach the people and the government will not import coconut oil that is harmful the body.
