Govt. will not allow environmental destruction - President

Colombo (News 1st); The government will not allow anyone to cut down trees and destroy the environment, said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

During a meeting with SLPP-affiliated movements in Nugegoda on Wednesday (24), the President said he instructed District Secretaries to take immediate action if environmental destruction takes place at the district level. The President has noted the present government is facing issues created by the former administration adding the leasing of the East Container Terminal and the MCC Agreement are such issues. President Rajapaksa had pointed out there was a clear policy-based change in the country over the past 16 months adding the people-centered program will not be suspended, no matter issues arise.
