Catholic schools in Western Province to re-open in April, and not on 29th March

Colombo (News 1st); All Catholic schools in the Western Province will re-open on the 05th of April and not the 29th of March, said Rev. Fr. Jude Krishantha, the media director of the Archdiocese of Colombo.

Academic activities across all schools in the Western Province will commence from Monday, 29th March 2021, said Education Minister Professor G. L. Peiris on Wednesday (25). Accordingly, students from all grades will return to school from Monday (29), said the Minister adding the Director-General of Health Services granted permission for the re-opening of schools in the Western Province. Further, pre-schools in the Western Province will also re-open on the 29th of March 2021, he said on Wednesday (25). The Minister went on to note the health situation has enabled the reopening of schools, and therefore, Private and International Schools can open from March 29th. However, no decision was made with respect to private tutories in the country and the situation is being reviewed.
