COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that ONE (01) COVID-19 death was reported in the country on Sunday (Mar. 21), raising Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 death toll to 546.
The deceased is a 64-year-old female from Medirigiriya. She was transferred from Polonnaruwa General Hospital and transferred to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, where she died on 19.03.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.
Meanwhile, another 342 new positive cases were reported on Sunday (Mar. 21), raising the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 90,200, the Department of Government Information said.
As of Monday morning (Mar. 22), there are 2895 active patients receiving treatment, while 86,759 have recovered.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, 8938 people received the COVID-19 jab yesterday (21); and so far, 824,523 people have been vaccinated in the country.
