Kerawalapitiya Garbage Dump Fire still Raging

COLOMBO (News 1st): The fire that broke out at the Muthurajawela - Kerawalapitiya waste disposal site on Thursday evening (Feb. 18), is yet to be doused. The fire has engulfed an area of around 4 acres of the disposal site, where polythene and plastic waste is discarded. According to the Fire Services Department, efforts are continuing to douse the fire. The Tri-Forces and Police are also assisting the Fire Brigade to put out the fire. Water is being sprayed from several sides in order to contain the fire, according to our correspondent.
