BASEMENT IN DUPLICATION ROAD FLOODS KILLING ONE

Colombo (News 1st); A man in his 50's was found dead inside the basement of a construction site located down Duplication Road in Colpetty, following heavy rains, said Sri Lanka Police on Wednesday (30).
The construction worker died after the basement was flooded following Tuesday's (29) torrential downpour experienced in Colombo, authorities said.
According to reports, workers at the construction site had been sleeping in the basement following the day's work and when the basement was being filled with water, they managed to climb out unaware one person was not among them.
A search by authorities carried out until early this morning resulted in the discovery of the dead man.
