COLOMBO (News 1st): Travel restrictions have been imposed in Galagedara East, Padukka, after a 74-year-old resident of the area died of COVID-19. The victim passed away at his residence. The secretary and eight urban councillors of the Hatton Dickoya Urban Council, and a former provincial councillor of the Central Provincial Council, have been directed to self-quarantine after they attended a Birthday Party on the 19th of this month, which was also attended by urban councillor who later tested positive for COVID-19. The urban councillor who had participated in the event had been previously directed to self-quarantine. Meanwhile, 28 employees of a garment factory in Watawala, have tested positive for the virus after PCR tests were carried out on 451 factory employees yesterday.  10 employees of this factory had tested positive for COVID-19 on an earlier occasion. Meanwhile, PCR tests were carried out on individuals leaving the western province from 12 locations yesterday. Tests carried out yesterday identified 7 positive COVID-19 cases. So far, 33 COVID-19 cases have been identified through these tests. Two COVID-19 patients, who were receiving treatment at the ICU of the Methsiri Sewana Hospital in Anuradhapura, were discharged today. This ICU unit was opened last month, with the support of the Army. Authorities said, the ability to cure COVID-19 patients with limited facilities, was a great achievement.
