Concerns regarding media suppression raised in parliament

COLOMBO (News 1st): Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Tissa Attanayake raised concerns in parliament today on the government's attempts to suppress the media. ''The CID has launched investigations into hundreds of social media activists'' he said. The MP urged the ruling faction to refrain from media suppression and to stop arresting, threatening, and interrogating media personnel. In response to MP Attanayake, Minister Chamal Rajapaksa inquired, '' Is it wrong to make an inquiry, when someone levels an invalid allegation against another? ''.
