COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka's COVID-19 cases rose to 12,570 after 383 patients tested positive for the virus on Thursday, government figures showed.
The country hit by a second wave of infections saw five deaths being reported yesterday, the highest single-day death toll in the island.
Accordingly, the total number of deaths reported since the outbreak of the virus in March rose to 29.
Official figures showed that 765 individuals recovered from the virus on Thursday, raising the total infections to 6623.
At present, 5918 patients are under medical care.
The National Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak has said that 63,644 individuals have completed the quarantine period in the country.
It added that 2420 individuals are undergoing quarantine at 30 centres that are managed by the tri-forces.
