Colombo (News 1st); The Quarantine Curfew will be re-imposed for the entire western province at 05:00 AM on Monday (02) to 05:00 AM on 09th November, said Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.
The Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said the reason for re-imposing the Quarantine Curfew is because most of the COVID-19 cases are reported from the Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha Districts.
Further, Quarantine Curfew will be imposed for the Eheliyagoda Police area in the Ratnapura District, Kurunegala Municipal Council area and the Kuliyapitiya Police Division until 05:00 AM on the 09th of November.
He said only people involved in essential services are permitted to travel during the quarantine curfew.
Further, when a COVID-19 patient is taken to hospital, the first contacts and second contacts will be ordered to confine themselves to their home to undergo quarantine.
All those placed in home quarantine must comply with the quarantine regulations and the government will be providing a food hamper to thise families.
In addition, the Government will be providing a Rs. 5000/- allowance to low income families on the Western Province.
The Army Commander said the Quarantine Regulations apply to all other parts of the country as well adding, people must confine themselves to their respective districts and minimize travel.
Lt. General Shavendra Silva the system which was imposed during the first lockdown in Sri Lanka of delivering food will be re-introduced to the Western Province.
