COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka recorded three deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, recording the highest single-day toll of deaths in the country.
The 17th patient to die of COVID-19 was a 41-year old resident of Ja Ela who was being treated for the virus at the IDH Hospital, officials said.
The other two deaths were of a 19-year old male and an 87-year old female who were residents of Colombo.
PCR tests carried out following their deaths had revealed that they had been infected with COVID-19, the government information department said.
"Both individuals had been suffering from a prolonged illness," the statement added.
