Colombo (News 1st); All employees from the Minuwangoda apparel factory who tested positive for COVID-19 were hospitalized and all other workers are undergoing quarantine, said Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Commander of the Army and the Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak.
Further, 85% of the families of apparel workers who tested positive for COVID-19 have also been moved to quarantine facilities, said the Army Commander.
In addition, the other COVID-19 cases detected from the Minuwangoda cluster were also hospitalized and their families were placed in quarantine facilities.
The three-armed forces are operating 96 quarantine facilities across the country with more than 10,500 people undergoing the quarantine process.
The health authorities have already taken measures to move all close contacts of COVID-19 cases to the nearest hospital, and their families as well their close contacts too have been moved to a quarantine facility operated by the Sri Lanka Army.
In addition, the Intelligence Services have located the second tier contacts as well and these people were requested to self-quarantine until facilities are arranged to move them to quarantine facilities.
