Eight arrested while excavating for ancient artifacts: SL Police

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police have arrested eight suspects engaged in conducting illegal archaeological excavations in Arbaanagar of Puwarasunkulam, police said on Sunday (Sep 06). Police said the arrests were made while the suspects were excavating a private land with the intention of searching for artifacts. Two vehicles were also seized during the arrest. According to police, the suspects are residents of Gampaha, Kadawatha, Athurugiriya, Katunayake, Veyangoda, and Padukka. They will be produced at the Vavuniya Magistrates Court today (Sep 06).
