COLOMBO (News 1st): The sun is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from the 28th of August to the 7th of September, the Department of Meteorology said on Friday (Aug 28).
"As a result of this condition, many areas in the island will experience high heat conditions," Athula Karunanayake, the Director-General at the Met Department said.
The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today are Karampan, Kokuvil, and Sarasalai at about 12:11 noon, the Met Department said.
