Colombo (News 1st); Rs. 36 Million was released on Friday (24) from the COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund of Government of Sri Lanka for PCR testing.
The President's Media Division said the money was released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for PCR testing and awareness for Healthcare Insurance.
Accordingly, Rs.34 Million was released to purchase essential test kits to perform PCR tests at the University of Sri Jayawardenapura on the request of the Ministry of Health &Indigenous Medical Services.
The other Rs. 2.5 Million was released to purchase essential laboratory equipment to upgrade PCR testing capacity at the University of Jaffna.
At the balance of the COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund of Government of Sri Lanka is over Rs. 1.5 Billion.
