The Department of Railways has said that
only those who have registered with the Department
before last Thursday can commute via office trains that resume operations today.
Railways Deputy Superintendent, Saman Polwattage said that registration for the 1st week was conducted based on requests made by the Heads of public and private sector institutions involved in essential services.
He urged people who did not receive a confirmation SMS of registration from the Department, not to visit railway stations.
Only those who register with the department from today till 13th May will be allowed to commute via trains, for the week commencing from the 18th of May.

He further noted
10 office trains will be in operation this week.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board said that
5,500 busses will be deployed for operations today.
SLTB Deputy Superintendent, A. H. Panduka said these busses
will only operate during office hours.
