267 prisoners to be released under Presidential pardon

Colombo (News 1st): The Department of Prisons states that 267 prisoners will be released under the Presidential pardon. Its Commissioner-General T. M. J. W. Thennakoon noted that suitable candidates to receive a presidential pardon were chosen by a committee comprising of prison officials. He added that the relevant document will be signed by President Maithripala Sirisena today (November 14). Accordingly, the pardon will be granted to prisoners over 65-years  of age and who have been convicted of minor offenses.
