COLOMBO (News 1st) - A decisive meeting between railway trade unions and Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera will be held today(June 20).
The discussions are scheduled to commence at 2 pm ar the Finance Ministry premises. The train strike which was scheduled to commence at midnight yesterday was postponed until 2 pm today.
It was postponed following talks with Minister Arjuna Ranatunga as he promised to address the issues after discussions with the Finance Minister.
Five trade unions representing Train Drivers, Guards, Controllers, and Station Masters were to go on strike as a mark of protest against the failure to implement the approved cabinet paper to remove all salary anomalies.
