Colombo (News 1st): What was discussed during the emergency cabinet meeting that was convened last evening?
Journalists questioned Minister Mano Ganesan in this regard during a media briefing today. He noted that the President expressed his opinion and noted that certain members of the committee were making this an opportunity to sling mud at him.
The Minister added that the President said that under such circumstances, it will be difficult to move forward as a government. He noted that the President requested them to refrain from such activities.
Journalists noted that it has been reported that the President had requested that heads of security forces not be summoned and questioned in public.
Minister Mano Ganeshan stated that it is not wise for members of security forces, and intelligence officers to participate in such public proceedings. He noted that even he is a part of it.
He added that a decision regarding the committee will be taken in the coming days.
