Colombo (News 1st): According to the Disaster Management Centre, 321,000 people from 75,416 families have been affected due to the prevailing extreme heat weather.
Minister of Disaster Management Ranjith Maddhuma-Bandara states that 207 bowsers have been set up to supply water to the affected areas.
The Minister also added that an increase of forest fires have been reported.
Meanwhile, the Met Department says, the prevailing extreme heat conditions are expected to continue until late May.
The Ministry of Health states that the high temperatures could cause various diseases, and requested the public to limit strenuous outdoor activities and stay hydrated.
