COLOMBO (News 1st) - 'Gamak Samaga Pilisadarak' program initiated by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna was held in Sooriyawewa yesterday(March 17). MP Chamal Rajapaksa and Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena attended the occasion. The journalists at the program asked MP Chamal Rajapaksa his opinion on the potential presidential candidates for the upcoming election.
MP Chamal Rajapaksa attempted to avoid the question on a humorous tone. He also avoided the question of whether it would be Maithripala Sirisena or Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Yet he denied that Basil Rajapaksa or he would be the presidential candidates. He finally noted that it was not up to them to decide who would be the presidential candidate and it is up to the public to decide their representative.
MP Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena noted that the party had suggested Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as their presidential candidate and if they were to find a better option they would resort to that.
