Opposition Leader's office open to issues from across the country, not just one area - Mahinda Rajapaksa

Colombo (New 1st) - Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa assumed duties at the Opposition Leader's office this morning. The former president obtained the blessings of the Maha sangha prior to assuming duties at his office down Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha. A number of politicians and dignitaries were present at the occasion. Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking to the media noted that after a lapse of 4 years, the opposition leader's office would be open to issues from the entire country and not just limited one area. He noted that democracy has been deteriorating over the past 4 years and the people are facing grave economic concerns. Rajapaksa also noted that the Government has failed to pay attention to the issues faced by the farming community as well adding that the Sena caterpillar infestation has become a serious issue. The opposition leader noted that they will take steps to unite all forces against this government
