18 arrested for counterfeiting US dollars in Ampitiya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 18 suspects have been arrested for counterfeiting US dollars from Ampitiya, Kandy. The Police noted that the arrest was made at 11.00 am this morning (January 13) based on a tip-off. The arrested suspects are between the ages of 22 and 58 years and have been identified as residents of Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Elpitiya, Colombo and Horowpothana. The Police also seized three new cars from their possession. The suspects were remanded after they were presented before the Kandy Magistrates Court today (January 13).
