Poachers shoot wildlife officers in Hambantota

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A shooting took place last night (December 08) targetting four officials of the Hambantota Wildlife Office while they were on duty. An official at the Office of Wildlife in Hambantota confirmed that no one was injured in the shooting. The shooting had reportedly been carried out by two poachers who had arrived at the Bundala national reserve. While one suspect, a resident of Weligaththa, Hambantota was arrested and handed over to the police the other had fled the scene.
