Colombo (News1st): Former Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva speaking at the Jathika Ekamuthuwa rally said "elections and parliament are kept on hold, and today the court of appeal destabilized the cabinet as well." He added that the president who gave orders has also been destabilized and no one is stable, therefore it is difficult to continue in such a manner. He requested a stable government and stated that never in history have Sri Lanka faced such an unstable situation.
Former Chief Justice Silva went onto note that all institutions including courts are not empowered to destabilize the constitution or the Sovereignty of the people and if the people's voting right are being deprived, it is against the constitution.
