Colombo (News1st): A group representing potential investors hoping to implement a high-speed train project in Sri Lanka, met with President Maithripala Sirisena today (October 16).
It was reported that the train project, proposed to commence in the North Western province, had to face several issues, and these issues were discussed with the president.
Following the meeting, the Project manager of Ceylon High-Speed Railway Corporation Pvt Ltd Nicholas Shrimal making a statement to the media said the President inquired into the details of the project as well as the political and social issues facing the investment.
He stated that the president also inquired from them on the obstructions made by political figures and whether they have any evidence to prove these allegations.
Nicholas Shrimal added that they hope the President will conduct an investigation into this matter, in a justifiable way and noted that they believe that they will be given the opportunity to implement this project islandwide.
