Elephant killed after falling into a canal

Colombo (News1st):  An elephant died after it fell into a canal in Muhunuketha, Welikanda last evening (October 12). The elephant that had a wound on its leg was treated by the wildlife officials a few days ago. The 8.5 meters tall elephant was frequently seen at the Somawathiya forest reserve and was around 30 years of age. The postmortem examination was conducted by the Ggirithala veterinary office.
