SLTB employees in Kandy on strike

Colombo (News1st): Employees attached to several Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depots in Kandy have launched a trade union action in protest against the appointment of the SLTB's new regional manager for Kandy. Employees attached to seven Depots are engaged in this strike action. Speaking to News 1st, a senior official at the SLTB stated that the matter will be resolved as soon as possible. However, to make matters worse private bus employees operating between Kandy and Badulla have gone on strike against certain decisions taken by the Uva Province Passenger Transport Authority.
