Colombo (News1st) - While attempts are being made in parliament to change the Opposition Leader, a number of politicians and party leaders believe that the priority should be to change Prime Minister.
The leader of the National Freedom Front, Wimal Weerawansa states that the country continues to be run by a rogue who holds the position of Prime Minister. He notes that this rogue is constantly making plans to sell state assets or sacrifice the country itself in a bid to make money. Weerawansa went onto state that those in power today are individuals who are willing to do anything for the foreigners governing the country.
MP Udaya Gammanpila, Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya believes that it is the general consensus of the public that the Prime Minister should be changed. He noted that they attempted to do it through the no-confidence motion. While noting that the Parliament is currently dysfunctional, Gammanpila added that the 19th amendment has taken away the power of the President to rectify this by changing the Prime Minister.
UPFA Parliamentarian Rohitha Abyegunwardene commenting on the matter noted that the current Prime Minister who gave promises of catching rogues was the same individual who brought in the Central Bank governor, took the Central Bank under his wing, robbed it and allowed the Governor to leave the country.
Leader of the JVP, Anura Kumara Dissanayake also expressed similar sentiments he stated
"..It was Ranil Wickremesinghe that appointed Arjuna Mahendran as the Governor of the Central Bank. It is Ranil Wickremesinghe that acted to protect Arjuna Mahendran and it was Ranil Wickremesinghe that sent Arjuna Mahendran to Singapore. So where did the robbery happen from? It happened from Temple Trees and was steered by Ranil.."
MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Leader of the Democratic Left Front states that the only way to change the Prime Minister is to break the consensus government. He notes that while they have continues to attack the Government the final blow will be delivered on the 5th of September, and what that happens the Prime Minister could be changed.
