COLOMBO (News 1st); Marking the start of the local government election, postal voting will officially commence today.
The National Election Commission has announced that individuals unable to cast their postal vote today will be given additional opportunities to do so on the 25th, 28th, and 29th of this month.
In a special arrangement for police officers assigned to duties related to the Siri Dalada Wandanawa, a dedicated postal voting center has been established in Kandy.
According to the National Election Commission, this facility has been set up at the Kandy Girls’ High School.
Meanwhile, arrangements have also been made for members of the tri-forces to cast their postal votes at their respective military bases, ensuring broad access to this crucial democratic process.
The local government elections are scheduled to be held on May 6.
