It is indeed saddening to see the state of life of many people in Sri Lanka as we expose the largest financial scam to take place in Sri Lankan history.
The Central Bank Treasury Bond Scam
Arjuna Mahendran was invited to take up the position of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry has said it was a value judgement which had to be made by those who considered the wisdom of appointing Mahendran, who was not a citizen of Sri Lanka, as the Governor of the CBSL.
The Prime Minister continuously appeared for Arjuna Mahendran even after the bond scam was exposed.
Is it not because of his involvement, his adviser and Chairman of his Party Malik Samarawickrama was at the most talked about Breakfast Meeting at the Central Bank ?
The Prime Minister even went on to say he insisted Arjuna Mahendran to go for public auctions, and later at the Commission said he only wanted Mahendran to consider moving to auctions.
When there were allegation Mahendran had fled the country in 2016, the Prime Minister once again defended him.
On October 28, 2016, Prime Minister stated that when he met Arjuna Mahendran the week before, Mahendran has stated that he will be attending a wedding and will return. Further, the PM stated that Mahendran has not fled the country like Udayanga Weerathunga.
By this statement you can see how the Prime Minister appeared for Mahendran.
Now the PM has two moral obligations :
- Just as you said, dont' worry he only went for a wedding , he will come back - bring him back now - not on the 15th, now.
- If you are responsible for the appointment, therefore you are the Minister in charge - what is your moral obligation to stay there by saying there is no loss, the money is held and they will be recovered.
Dear Prime Minister you have presided over the loss - show an example and resign.
How can you say the UNP is not responsible - you appointed him even when the president was against it.
With one motive and that is to rob the country.
It's clear that Prime Minister, you yourself were saying Arjun Aloysius was responsible for this before your time. Knowing that why appoint his father in law for the post of Governor.
The sad part about this is that
the loss is more than 12 billion, it is 19 billion.
If this robbery did not take place, the issues of the people fighting to have at least one meal a day, heart and kidney patients, children with no schools, workers, teachers and suicidal farmers - all the issues can be resolved.
This is why the former government was kicked out, and the government that won the war was kicked out by the people, because the people stood up against corruption.
What makes you think the people will have any different view of you?
This is not about the
UNP - this about you Ranil Wickremesinghe, who presides with three or four people over the biggest financial scam to take place in this country.
In less than three months the loss was caused.
Now you, Prime Minister is saying the money will be recovered. What a shameless response, you are claiming there is no loss.
This is the EPF that has been looted and this corruption also took place in the previous regime.
The people in Glenn Street was moved out of their houses and Roshen who fought for the rights of the EPF was shot.
They took over Lithro Gas, raised the prices of the gas so that they can launch hotel projects and skim from the EPF.
By doing all this, they built mansions in Malwana and purchased land valued in the millions from Gampaha and Matara.
