SLPP Holds Rally in Anuradhapura; Raises Concerns Over Namal Rajapaksa’s Remand

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) organized a public rally today focusing on a number of issues, including the remanding of its National Organiser, Namal Rajapaksa, in connection with an ongoing bribery investigation.

The rally was held under the leadership of former President and Leader of the SLPP Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The rally was organized under the theme, ජන පීඩක ආණ්ඩුවේ රුදුරුබල බිඳින ජනසටන which loosely translates to “The People’s Struggle to Break the Power of the Government that is Oppressing the people”

The rally was held at the Anuradhapura Municipal Council Grounds.

Representatives of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, as well as former MPs and ministers, attended the rally.

Several SLPP representatives addressed the rally.

The message from Namal Rajapaksa, National Organiser of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament, was read out by the party’s spokesperson, Sanjeewa Erimanna.
