Universities Urged To Expedite Academic, Non-Academic Recruitment

COLOMBO (News 1st): University Vice-Chancellors have been instructed to expedite the recruitment of academic and non-academic staff to fill existing vacancies.

Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madhura Senevirathna said the instructions were issued after Vice-Chancellors were summoned before the Advisory Sub-Committee on Higher Education.

He said approval had already been granted to fill academic and non-academic vacancies across all universities.

However, the Deputy Minister noted that the recruitment process has been delayed at certain universities.

There are currently 19 universities in the country.
